Ingredients
- Syrup:
- 80g of sugar
- 50g of honey
- 350ml of water
- 1½ tablespoon of orange blossom water
- Cloves
- Cinnamon
- Filling
- 150g of pistachios
- 55g of walnuts
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
- Filo pastry sheets
- Melted butter
Method
- Preheat the pan and mix 80g of sugar and 50g of honey in it
- Add 350ml of water, thoroughly mix, and bring to boil
- Turn off the heat and add 1 ½ tablespoon of orange blossom water, 2 cinnamon sticks, and a pinch of cloves
- Cover with a lid and let it cool
- Mix 150g of pistachios, 55g of walnuts, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and grind it into powder
- Melt 100-150g of butter
- Cut filo pastry sheets so they fit the baking pan you use
- Grease your baking pan with some butter and put a filo pastry sheet on the bottom
- Grease the layer of pastry and put another pastry sheet on top
- Repeat this step until you have 6 layers
- Make a layer of nut filling, sprinkle it with some butter and add a layer of filo pastry sheet on top
- Make 2 more layers of buttered pastry sheets
- Add another layer of nut filling
- Make 3 more layers of buttered pastry sheets
- Make a layer of nut filling
- Repeat these steps until you completely fill your baking pan or run out of ingredients
- Cover your baklava with a lid and refrigerate for 1 hour
- Remove the baklava from the fridge, cut it into portions using a sharp knife, and bake for 25-30 minutes at 180C or 350F
- Strain the syrup
- Remove the baklava from the oven and pour the syrup on top
